functional solutions

FOR INDEPENDENT PEOPLE

I started building websites with WordPress in 2012, when I started my own business (Sturdy Girl). I knew what I wanted my site to look like, and I didn’t have a lot of money to pay someone for a fancy site. So I started researching, and figured out how to build it myself.

That experience translated well into my other part time job as administrator of the local conservation district, which happened to need a new site. Then a couple of our partner non-profits said they needed sites, and the ball hasn’t stopped rolling from there.

My background as a business owner and a non-profit administrator mean that I make sure my sites are functional, flexible, and budget friendly. Best of all, I will train you to update your site yourself, because there’s a darn good chance you’re as independently minded as I am.

About me

I’m a fifth-generation Montanan, making a living by making the world a prettier place.

I graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a degree in English, and started my career as the administrator and outreach specialist at the Madison Conservation District in Ennis, Montana. I quickly made a name for my self as a young administrator doing “radical” things with social media, marketing, and outreach.¬†

In October 2014, I was hired as the Communications Director for the Montana Association of Conservation Districts, in Helena, Montana. At MACD, I am responsible for putting together the association newsletter, The Montana Conservationist, which comes out every other Tuesday, and for maintaining the MACD website. In addition, I am working to get every individual conservation district¬†online, and to increase the technical knowledge and capabilities of administrators across the state. I strongly believe in the mission of Conservation Districts, and I’m doing everything I can to get the word out about their good work.

Meanwhile, I supplement my office job by doing graphic and web design for independent conservation organizations and other businesses across the state.

When I’m not at my desk, I love adventuring in Northwest Montana, working on my fixer-upper house with my husband, and working in my flower garden.
